Turn technicians' notes into plain-English repair summaries for customers with Gemini, and dig through factory manuals for the simple fix
Brian Newham, co-owner of Atlas Automotive Repair on Route 66 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, interviewed by the Tulsa World
Newham built an AI tool powered by Google's Gemini. It turns technicians' technical notes into summaries without jargon or acronyms that go to the customer, and helps him sift through dense original-equipment-manufacturer documents to research fixes. The shop runs "more like a doctor's office": a $30 initial inspection first, then the repair.

The problem
Technicians' notes are full of jargon and acronyms customers don't understand, and the answer to a tricky repair is often buried in dense manufacturer documents. Newham wanted to keep customers from wasting money, time and "emotional well-being" on repairs they don't need.
What happened
Per the Tulsa World, the tool turns technical notes into customer summaries in 15 minutes, and in one case it helped find a simple fix for a Ford F-150's A/C that saved a customer thousands of dollars. Newham says that with the tool, "about 75% to 80% of the time" the $30 inspection is as far as they need to go before they can offer a repair. Self-reported in a local news interview.

How to set it up yourself
- What Atlas Automotive Repair does: Brian Newham's Gemini-powered tool turns technicians' notes into plain-English summaries for customers and helps him search dense factory documents for fixes.
- Collect a few real technician notes from recent repair orders, with the customer's name and plate removed.
- Paste one note into Gemini with the prompt below and compare the summary with what the tech actually found. Fix anything it got wrong before it goes to a customer.
- When a repair looks expensive, upload or paste the relevant section of the manufacturer's documentation and ask Gemini to list simpler causes to rule out first. Your tech makes the call.
- Save the prompt so every service advisor sends summaries in the same plain style (our suggestion).
