The problem
Osborne wanted to see whether ChatGPT could create a beer for the brewery, and his taproom manager pushed him to make sure customers knew they were doing it.
What happened
Osborne says the beer "pretty much meets my expectations." ChatGPT gave only five-gallon recipes and scaled the malt wrong for a three-barrel batch (at one point 2,000 pounds of brewers malt), so he had it give the recipe as percentages instead. He says it plays it safe on hops and won't suggest newer, cutting-edge ingredients. Self-reported.

- Open a new ChatGPT chat and paste the prompt below with your system size and house constraints. Ask for the grain bill as percentages and the hops as rates, not pounds, because it scaled a five-gallon recipe to a three-barrel batch wrong for Findlay.
- Convert the percentages to weights in your own brewing software or spreadsheet, check them against your mash tun capacity, and brew it your way; Osborne says the beer still tastes like his brewery's because of its process.
- In the same chat, ask for three name options, a taproom-wall image, a short press release and three social posts. Check the ABV, release date and every claim against your actual batch before anything goes out.
