Load every company SOP into a custom GPT with internet access off, then dictate new processes, email scripts and ad copy into it
Stuart Eisler, founder and owner of MasterCraft Garage Door Service in Gilbert, Arizona, on The Garage Door Podcast Lab
He built a custom GPT in ChatGPT by uploading all of the company's written processes and procedures, with internet access turned off "so it only knows my SOPs." His first version, a GPT technicians could ask about policy, was "a fail" for that purpose because techs had to know to ask. What worked was using it himself: he dictates by voice to update processes and draft new ones, like a process for ordering garage doors, and reads and corrects every draft because "chat GPT is not perfect." He also uses it for email scripts (a generic database-reactivation email that pulls in current specials), ad copy and website SEO, and has started using Claude "for some of that." Next he plans a separate custom GPT for his CSRs, who need answers mid-task at a computer.

The problem
Writing and updating process documentation took him weeks, and his goal was "to make my cell phone ring less": fewer questions from a team of eight running four trucks.
What happened
"I can pump out, you know, 10 pages of prolevel process and procedure in a day, no problem. In the past, that would have taken me weeks," he says, and he spends "about a fourth of my day" in it. How to set it up yourself
- What MasterCraft Garage Door Service does: Stuart Eisler uploaded all his SOPs into a custom GPT with internet access off, and dictates new processes, email scripts and ad copy into it.
- Gather every written process you have (pricing, warranties, scheduling, time-off requests) into a few documents.
- In ChatGPT, create a project, upload the documents and paste the instructions below so it answers only from them (Eisler built a custom GPT with internet access off).
- Use it yourself first, by voice: describe a process out loud and have it write the SOP in your format. Read and correct every draft before anyone uses it.
- Eisler found techs in the field didn't use a Q&A bot; office staff at a computer are a better next audience (his plan for his CSRs).
