Have ChatGPT or Gemini review your gym's employee handbook and contracts against your state's law
Abraham Gerving, owner of Affinity Fitness, a 24/7 key-card gym with two locations (Washougal and North Bonneville, Washington) that is staffed only part of the day, on Daxko's Fitness Forward podcast (Daxko makes the club's membership software)
He uploads the employee handbook and process documents to ChatGPT or Gemini (the club uses Google Workspace) and asks what should change, especially under Washington law. He then stress-tests them by asking what it would answer to a given question based on the document, and uses it for contract review as well.

The problem
The owner writes the club's handbook, procedures and contracts himself, and wording that seems clear to him isn't always clear to staff.
What happened
Self-reported: it helps him say things more succinctly and catch wording that isn't clear to someone else. No time figures are given. He stresses that AI output needs constant review, like a new employee. Note: the podcast is produced by Daxko, the club's membership-software company; he is a customer, and the tools in this story aren't Daxko's.

How to set it up yourself
- What Affinity Fitness does: the owner uploads the handbook, procedures and contracts to ChatGPT or Gemini, asks for changes based on Washington law, then asks staff-style questions to see whether the document answers them clearly.
- In ChatGPT, attach the handbook with the + button in the message box (in Gemini, use the + or upload button in the prompt box) and paste the prompt below with your state.
- Stress-test it: ask five questions a new hire would ask ("Can I swap a shift?", "What do I do if the bathroom is out of order at 5 a.m.?") and rewrite any section where the answer is vague.
- Treat legal suggestions as questions for your employment lawyer, not answers; have them review anything about pay, breaks, leave, discipline or termination before you publish.

You are reviewing the employee handbook for {GYM NAME}, a {TYPE OF CLUB} in {STATE} with {NUMBER} staff. The document is attached. 1) List sections that may conflict with {STATE} employment law or are missing, and say what to ask a lawyer about each; don't state legal conclusions as fact. 2) List sentences a new hire could misread and rewrite each one plainly. 3) Answer these staff questions using only the handbook, and say where it doesn't answer: {QUESTIONS}.We set up one AI automation in your tools, live within 48 hours of getting access, for $197.
