Run a weekly review with an AI 'C-suite' (CMO, CEO, CFO) fed your real reports, with Claude connected to QuickBooks

who Amanda Butler Schley, founding and managing partner of Business Law Group, a boutique law firm in New Orleans, on the Endeavors AI podcast

What it does

Every Monday she consults three AI 'agents' set up as a CMO, CEO and CFO, giving them the firm's real reports. She uploads transcripts of meetings with her human outsourced CFO so the AI's advice stays consistent with his. Claude is connected to QuickBooks for financial analysis. An AI receptionist is in testing. For content she now questions every sentence, after another lawyer flagged the invented law in a published post and she had to pull it.

The problem

A small firm owner has no CFO or CMO on staff to sit down with every week, and her first experiments with AI for content went wrong: a ChatGPT summary of a CLE invented the law, and the post went live.

What happened

Self-reported, no numbers: she says connecting Claude to QuickBooks unlocked analysis the firm never had. Lessons she shares: AI can 'say the law wrong' even on simple summaries; models tend to adopt your stance and feed it back (contrarian prompts haven't fixed that for her); the same question asked ten times gives different answers. Her team is skeptical of the AI receptionist so far.

How to set it up yourself

  1. What she did: set up separate AI 'advisors' (CMO, CEO, CFO) and meets with them every Monday using the firm's actual reports.
  2. Create one Claude project per role. In each, write what that advisor is responsible for and what decisions it should help with.
  3. Each week, upload the same reports a real advisor would see: P&L and cash from QuickBooks, pipeline and intake numbers, marketing stats.
  4. Add notes or transcripts from your human advisors (she uses her outsourced CFO's) so the AI works from the same assumptions.
  5. Connect QuickBooks if your plan supports it (Claude offers a QuickBooks connector); otherwise export reports to CSV and upload them.
  6. Don't publish AI-written legal content without a lawyer checking every statement, and don't treat the AI agreeing with you as confirmation.

Copy-paste prompt

You are the CFO advisor for [Firm], a [size]-person law firm. Attached: this month's P&L, cash balance, A/R aging and last month's notes from our outside CFO. 1) Summarize the month in five bullets. 2) List the three numbers that changed most and the likely reasons, marked as guesses where you're not sure. 3) Flag any client over 60 days past due. 4) Give me two questions to raise with our outside CFO. Stick to the numbers in the files; if you'd disagree with how I'm reading them, say so plainly.
